Tips & Techniques: Kreate-a-pop-up™ 101

This section details the basics on how to use the Kreate-a-pop-up™ templates.
Great for scrapbooking and card making.

The possibilities are endless!

Materials Required:

Kreate-a-pop-up™ templates
Scoring tool
Glue stick
Card stock
Scissors

1. Place the template so the center line of the template matches up with the center fold line of the card. (The center fold line in the card has been darkened so it can be seen easily.)

2. Score against the bottom edge of the template. A mouse pad or other soft surface placed under the card makes scoring easier.

3. Slide the template down so the dashed lines on the template match up with the scored line from the previous step. (The scored line has once again been darkened.)

4. Trace around the template with a pencil. The second photo shows the scored lines (dashed) and the traced lines (solid).

5. Cut out the shape, fold along center fold line and snip the corner as shown in the second photo. When you cut the corner this way it insures that the notch will be symmetrical when you open it. This makes correct mounting of the pop-up easier.

6. Fold back the base along the scored lines.

7. Apply glue to the underside of the base and adhere to card. The key to having a pop-up card that opens and closes with the card is to be sure to mount it symmetrically as shown in the right photo, thus the importance of cutting the notch symmetrically in step 5.

8. If you choose to you can "reverse mount" the pop-up. Simply tuck the base under and glue to card. Visually align the pop-up as in the left photo.
